PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of keys in an operation section, as compared with conventional one and to improve the operability. SOLUTION: A facsimile apparatus 20 has an operation section 5 having a favorite key 101 that is a function execution key, and a ROM6 for storing data for executing functions. When one favorite key 101 is selected from the favorite keys 101 (steps S12 and S14), and at the same time one function is selected (steps S17 and S19), a main control section 1 reads data for executing a selected function from the ROM6 for storing in a setting data memory 7a (step S22) in a RAM7 corresponding to the selected favorite key 101, reads data for executing a function corresponding to the favorite key 101 that is operated when one of the favorite keys 101 is operated from the setting data memory 7a in the RAM7 for executing the function, and disables execution of functions, other than a function that is stored in the setting data memory 7a in the RAM7.
