PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in a device characteristic due to the increase in a pass-band frequency in a surface acoustic wave device. SOLUTION: The surface acoustic wave device has excitation electrode sections 15 which are formed into a pair of comb teeth intricate mutually with a first film thickness T1 on a piezoelectric substrate, are formed of an aluminum or an aluminum alloy and generate a surface acoustic waves on the piezoelectric substrate or converts the surface acoustic waves of the piezoelectric substrate into electric signals, terminal electrode sections which input/output the electric signal to/from the section 15, and a wiring section 19 in which at least part thereof is formed with a second film thickness T2 thinner than the first film thickness T1 on the piezoelectric substrate and which is formed of an aluminum or an aluminum alloy and connects the sections 15 and the terminal electrode sections and connects the sections 15 mutually.
