PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image forming device using a transfer material carrier or an intermediate subscriber, in which the life time or the flaws of the transfer material carrier or intermediate subscriber is detected for improved image quality, the cause of the flaws is specified without cost increase, no difficult restoring process is required, and the damage on the transfer material carrier or intermediate subscriber due to defective restoring process is eliminated. SOLUTION: Related to the electrophotographic image forming device, the surface image of the transfer material carrier or intermediate subscriber is read by a CMOS censor 2, and then the surface image is sampled at a fixed cycle. From the surface image acquired by the sampling, the image features of the transfer material carrier or intermediate subscriber are detected. Based on the detected image features, the flaws of the transfer material carrier or intermediate subscriber are detected, and their causes are specified. |
