PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image layout apparatus by which a plurality of images can be presentably laid out in a designated region at high speed. SOLUTION: For each image, the image layout apparatus 1 forms an image attached with a margin which has a margin region of a specified width along its contour line, and moreover forms a rectangular region which circumscribes the image attached with a margin. After a plurality of rectangular regions GR1-GR9 are initially arranged with respect to the designated region R1 according to a specified arrangement rule, two rectangular regions are exchanged according to a specified reference, and rearrangement is performed for trial. After that, evaluation values concerning arrangement results after and before the exchange are compared. When the result after the exchange has been improved, arrangement after the exchange is adopted, and when the result has not been improved, the arrangement after the exchange is adopted by a predetermined probability, and arrangement of each rectangular region GR1-GR9 is changed. By repeating these actions, optimization of layout is carried out. |
