PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film used as a magnetic recording medium to obtain a DVC tape that has less dropouts even when the speed of the vacuum deposition is increased in manufacturing. SOLUTION: This is a polyester film for a magnetic recording medium, which has a coating containing fine particles and organic compounds on its one surface A. The surface of the coating has fine projections due to the above fine particles. The number of the projections is 500,000-90 million/m<2> , their diameter (D) 20-100 nm, their height (H) 10-30 nm, the H/D 0.15-1.0, the surface Ra 1-5 nm, and the Rmax value 60 nm or less. |
