PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor, an image forming apparatus, a method for forming an image and a process cartridge in which image defects such as black spots are prevented and preferable potential stability is obtained even for repeated use. SOLUTION: In an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photosensitive layer with an intermediate layer interposed on a conductive supporting body, the intermediate layer contains N-type semiconductor fine particles dispersed in a siloxane resin. The N-type semiconductor fine particles are subjected to several times of surface treatment in which the final surface treatment is carried out by using a reactive organic silicon compound.
