PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data distributing device and a method for distributing compressed image data capable of sending image data digitally recorded at a high bit rate to remote reproduction devices through various versatile means of wireless communication. SOLUTION: A control unit 11 compares a bit rate A of compressed image data in a program to be reproduced obtained by an image acquisition process unit 13 with a wireless communication bandwidth B of a wireless communication means connecting an image data distributing device and an image reproduction means 20.
