PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the firmware of a photoelectric sensor rewritable. SOLUTION: This system has an amplifier unit of an amplifier isolation type photoelectric sensor and an interface 1 which relays a communication between the amplifier unit and a data processor, and the amplifier unit 2 has a built-in program memory and a CPU which executes the program. A sensor program is stored in a rewritable area in the program memory and a boot program which rewrites the sensor program with a program obtained from the interface unit 1 through communication is stored in a rewriting-inhibited area. The interface unit 1 has a built-in program memory and a CPU executing the firmware and a program which defines a function of repeating communication from the data processor to the amplifier unit 2 is stored in the program memory. The program sent from the data processor rewrites the sensor program in the amplifier unit.
