<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the impregnation rate of an electrolyte into a separator, to shorten the injection time of liquid when manufacturing a battery, to homoge nize the keeping of the electrolyte in the separator, to prevent the heat distor tion of a pole plate or a cell, to suppress the dendrite short, to prevent the corrosion of a lattice body, to make the size of the battery larger, and to elon gate the life of the battery. SOLUTION: The closed type lead storage battery comprises both positive and negative electrode plates 3 and 4, and a separator 1 made of glass fiber inserted in a closed battery cell. A pressurising force A is not less than 50 kPa when the pole plate and the separator made of glass fiber are inserted into the closed battery cell, the ratio of the distance between the battery height/ the pole plate B is not less than 100.
