SOLUTION: A document carrying device is provided with a document carrying part 1 which reads a document carried from a document feed part 1, a document ejection part 300 in which read documents are piled up, an inverting passage route where the document is inverted by a pair of inverting rolls between the document feed part 1 and the document carrying part 1, a unit 910 which has a feeding-out roll 412, a separating roll 413, and one of a pair of resist rolls 414 and is supported at a support point to be able to open and close, a paper feed unit 920 which has a movable document pressing plate 1, a double feed preventing roll 1, and the other of the pair of resist rolls 414, and one of the pair of inverting rolls and is supported at a support point to be able to open and close, and the other of the pair of inverting rolls is provided on the side of a device main body 930, and power can be transmitted between the cover unit 910, the paper feed unit 920 and the device main body 930 by gear engaging parts.
