PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability of a key input method for assigning a plurality of codes to one key, and for selecting the code corresponding to the number of times of key depression as the candidate of input. SOLUTION: When a key depressing state is continued for a prescribed time, or key depression is performed twice in the prescribed time, a prescribed value is subtracted from a counted value indicating the number of times of key depression. When the key depressing state is continued even after the prescribed value is subtracted, 1 is subtracted from the prescribed value in each prescribed time. The subtraction of the counted value is performed so that when the number of times of key depression is too many, the code selected as a candidate is restored to the code previously selected as the candidate only by depressing the key a small number of times. Also, when the key non-depressing state is continued in the prescribed time after the key depression is performed, the code as the candidate is decided as input.
