The direction changer aid for a yarn winder with a reversible guide (6) controlling the position of the yarn (1) on a revolving bobbin or reel (5) consists of nozzles (8) delivering a flow of a compressed gas such as air into the ends of the guide drive (7) to accelerate the guide's change of direction. The nozzles are fed continuously with compressed gas (air), and the flow is controlled by solenoid valves (9) at each end of the guide drive. The solenoid valves are individually operated so that the flow from each nozzle applies an additional force to the guide in its reversing zone, and the operation of the valves can be controlled by the guide drive. The air injected by the nozzles can also form part of the cooling system for the drive. |
