A fuel for ignition controlled engines, particularly in aircraft, with an octane index, F4, of at least 130 and a low aromatic content, comprises isoparaffins and cycloparaffins. The fuel comprises a primary base, B1, comprising 6-9C isoparaffins, and a secondary base, B2, comprising 4 or 5C isoparaffins and optionally other hydrocarbons and additives, of quality and quantity to comply with current specifications. The product also contains at least 5 vol.%, preferably 10 vol.%, of a base, B3, comprising 5-8C cycloparaffins such that the ratio, R, of volumes (B1 + B2) / B3 is greater than 2.0, preferably 2.3-19.0. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the fuel.
