<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch pad input device to be mounted on a computer terminal so as to be validly utilized even when an external input device having a pointing operating function is connected to the computer terminal and an operating function switching method. SOLUTION: This touch pad input device 10 is constituted of a flat contact sensor 11 for detecting contact information from a tip of the finger or the tip of a pen or the like, and for outputting the X and Y coordinate values of the contact point, a storage means 12 for storing an operating function set by a touch pad input device 10, a display means 13 for displaying the current state of the operating function of the touch pad input device 10, and a control means 14 for controlling each part. The control means 14 controls each part of the touch pad input device 10, and this control means 14 is provided with a function for switching the current operating function set by the touch pad input device 10 from the normal function to the specific function when a pointing device such as a mouse is connected to the connecting terminal of a computer terminal.</p> |
