PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic still camera that can minimize the occurrence of erroneous white balance adjustment caused when a condition of an illumination light source at the adjustment is different from that at an actual photographing point of time in the white balance adjustment for the hybrid system of the electronic still camera. SOLUTION: The electronic still camera provided with a white balance adjustment means for performing white balance adjustment based on a photographed image, measures number of photographed images and an elapsed time from a prescribed point of time, discriminates the reliability of a white balance control signal stored at the prescribed point of time and can inform a user about it when the reliability is low.
