PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone, capable of starting a desired application in a simplified operation. SOLUTION: A portable telephone 10 counts the number of times it is started with an application program, each time the application program is started, and registers application programs of predetermined numbers from the application programs, having larger number of times of starting in a short-cut area 23 in a memory 2. When soft keys 12b, 12c, and 12d provided on an operation section 12 are depressed only one time, the portable telephone 10 is operated with a function assigned fixed to the individual soft keys 12b to 12d, in response to a started application program. When the soft keys are depressed twice, the application programs registered in the short-cut area are started.
