PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor in which the exclusive volume of a capacitor element is enlarged and short-circuit is prevented. SOLUTION: A pair of positive and negative polarizable electrode bodies in each of which a polarizable electrode layer is provided on a collector foil, is wound up with a separator therebetween to obtain the capacitor element 1. The capacitor element 1 and an electrolysis solution are accommodated in a metal case 3, being sealed by a sealing body 4 to obtain the cylindrical electric double layer capacitor. The inner surface of the metal case 3 is provided with an insulating layer 5. |
