PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication system that can perform efficient data reception making maximum use of a reception buffer capacity. SOLUTION: The system comprises a reception buffer 3 that can store data of one or more packets, a write control section 5 that writes the received packets into the reception buffer 3, a reception packet counter 7 that maintains a count value of packet number stored in the reception buffer 3 and increments the count value upon completion of writing received packet into the reception buffer 3 by the write control section 5, a determination section 9 that determines existence of the received packets in the reception buffer 3 from the count values of the reception packet counter 7, and a read control section 10 that reads the received packets from the reception buffer 3 when the determination section 9 determines the existence of received packets in the reception buffer 3 as well as notifies the reception packet counter 7 of the start of reading to make it decrement the count value.
