PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of color cathode-ray tubes which is capable of reducing energy consumption in manufacturing processes, by shortening necessary time in an aging process at operating conditions resulted from making the potential on the inside surface of a neck portion stabilize within a relatively short period. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method of color cathode-ray tubes, quadrupole lenses are formed in the area between respective opposite electrodes by applying different focusing voltages to electrodes 51 and 52, respectively. Specifically, a higher voltage is applied to the focusing electrode 51 rather than to the electrode 52. As a result, a cross-sectional configuration of electron beams 6 is formed as to be nearly oval extending in the X-axis direction by the quadrupole lenses formed between the focusing electrodes 51, 52, and then numbers of electrons e<-> which are caused by electron beams 6 and collide against the inside surface of a neck portion 4 located in the X-axis direction are increased so that the potential on the inside surface of a neck portion is stabilized within a relatively short period.
