PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantitative and easy adjustment means and confirmation means on the amount of eccentricity generated due to the condition of an optical disk or the condition of a rotating mechanism, and to also provide a means for preventing an erroneous measurement of an apparatus due to an abnormal eccentricity, in the apparatus for use in the pickup inspection for various kinds of optical disks or the inspection for the constituent device thereof. SOLUTION: A tracking error signal 8 which is a servo control signal in the tracking direction is inputted to a band limit filter 10 which activates only necessary components and a binarizing function 15 having a function for converting an analog signal into a digital signal. Further, a counter 16 having a counting function, a display device 18 executing the display of the detection result or an abnormal message, and a mask function 17 having a function for abstracting only necessary part for the detection are arranged. The detection of the amount of eccentricity is performed in real time so that the variation of the eccentricity is made to be already known. When it is judged to be abnormal, the measurement is cancelled or the apparatus is stopped.
