PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit comment data preservation method for preserving the circuit comment data of a circuit edited/prepared by using a sequence program editing device for allowing a user to display adaptive circuit comments without especially inputting any instruction in displaying his or her desired sequence program. SOLUTION: In preserving circuit comment data, whether or not any circuit comment is attached to a circuit edited/prepared according to the display of a display picture 21 is determined, and preservation processing 23 is executed. When any circuit comment is not attached, a normal instruction is converted into machine words, and stored in a program memory 25. When any circuit comment is attached, the circuit comment data of the circuit comments constituted of a character string are compressed. The compressed circuit comment data are used as the operand of a data instruction, and the machine words constituted of the data instruction including the circuit comment instruction and the circuit comment data are stored in the program memory 25.
