<p>A secure socket layer connection may be re-established between a client and a server over a public computer network without the need to recalculate a pre-master secret. After a request and an acknowledgment to connect between the client and server has been obtained, the client accesses a hash table to determine whether a prior connection has been made with the server. If so, the client obtains the prior pre-master secret contained in hash table in association with an identification for the server. The pre-master secret is then sent to the server such that each of the client and the server can then calculate the master key.</p> |
