The invention refers to an apparatus for testing a headrest (13) for a vehicle. The apparatus includes a support member (1) defining a path and a carriage (6) movably provided on the support member to be movable along the path. The carriage has a weight and includes a model (11) having a neck portion similar to a human's neck. A holding member (12) is mounted on the support member (1) for holding the headrest (13) to be tested in a test position. An ejecting member (25) accelerates the carriage to move along the path with a forward velocity ( SIMILAR ) towards the holding member (12) . The model will then hit the headrest, penetrate into the headrest and be given a return velocity ( SIMILAR ) .A measuring device (30-42) measures at least one parameter reflecting the quality of the headrest (13) .
