A system and method for wireless communication with a welding system is provided. The system includes a welding system (100, 210, 510, 610) having a WAP client component (130, 230,530, 614) and a wireless communication component (140, 240, 532, 616) facilitating post second generation mobile communications between the welding system (100, 210, 510, 610) and a WAP gateway component (250, 538, 730). The welding system (100, 210, 510, 610) and/or a browsing component (132, 232, 534). The invention further comprises methodologies for facilitating wireless communication with a welding system (100, 210, 510, 610).
