PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect exact exposure start timing of each light source in an optical scanner using a plurality of light sources arrayed in grid shape and to prevent space between scanning lines from getting uneven when the position of the light source where element is arranged in the grid shape is deviated from an adjusted positions due to disturbance such as vibration and the change in the ambient temperature. SOLUTION: A 1st optical system for guiding luminous fluxes emitted from a plurality of light sources arrayed in the grid shape on a single plane to a light deflecting means, a 2nd optical system for forming an image on a medium to be scanned with a plurality of luminous fluxes deflected by the light deflecting means, an optical sensor detecting the light output of a plurality of luminous fluxes, and a slit-shaped member through which a part of the luminous fluxes is made to pass in the vicinity of the optical sensor are arranged in this optical scanner. The slit-shaped member is held in a direction which is not perpendicular to a plane where the luminous flux is deflected.
