PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid contact between a rotating shaft and a floating ring. SOLUTION: This shaft seal structure is a ring shaped member provided between an outer periphery of the rotating shaft 1 and a casing 2 and having a space from the outer periphery of the rotating shaft along a radial direction; and is provided with the floating ring 3 divided in plural along a peripheral direction, and a connecting part 4a for mutually connecting the floating ring 3. The connecting part 4a is connected to the easing 2 and supports the floating ring 3 movably along the radial direction. By this construction, the weight of the floating ring 3 is supported through the connecting part 4a. The floating ring 3 is connected by an outer peripheral supporting part 4 provided on an outer periphery of the floating ring 3 and forming a ring shape as a whole.
