PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device for an injection molding machine which can curtail a molding cycle and open a molding mold while securing sufficient mold clamping force. SOLUTION: The mold clamping device 40 is located below the injection molding machine 1 and provided with a moving die plate 41 which can move in the mold clamping direction of the molding mold 30, a mold clamping lever 42 for clamping the molding mold 30, a lever driving cylinder 43 which supports the tip of the lever 42 and drives the tip of the lever 42 to approach or separate from the first molding mold 31 of the molding mold 30, a mold opening/closing cam 44 whose base end is supported rotatably by the lever 42 and which opens/ closes the molding mold 30 by being rotated, a cam driving cylinder 45 for driving the tip of the cam 44, and a movable mechanism 46 which is connected to the tip of the cam 44 and moves the tip of the cam 44 along the surface of the die plate 41.
