In the case of a solar module based on thin-film solar cells which are placed between two plates, particularly between glass plates, and are sealed by means of a casting substance, particularly by means of a chalcopyrite absorbent layer, a border seal being provided around the external edge of the plates and the electrical connections of the solar cells being taken to the outside of the enclosed space, the border seal is formed according to the invention by a spacing provided with a moisture-absorbing medium and by, on the outside, an adhesive bead going around this elastomer strip.
