The axial turbine has a gas outlet channel (6) defined by inner and outer shells (4,5), acting as a diffuser for a surrounding collection space (7), from which an exit flow line (9) is fed off. The outer shell is provided with a flow plate (13) projecting into the collection space, at least on the side opposite the exit flow line, having a radial width such that its outer edge is spaced from the opposite face of the collection space by at least the width of the diffuser opening (8).
