The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for controlling a flat screen (1) that is backlit, in particular, for making visible an image that is to be represented on said flat screen (1). Said arrangement has a memory (2), in which at least one first table for adapting the image reproduction characteristic (3) in accordance with a first parameter is stored. The circuit arrangement is characterised in that it has at least one additional table (4, 5, 6, 3', 4', 5', 6', 3'', 4'', 5'', 6''), which is used to adapt the image reproduction characteristic in accordance with an additional parameter. The invention also relates to a method for adapting an image reproduction characteristic of a flat screen (1). According to said method, the adaptation takes place by means of the correction of the image data reproduced on the flat screen (1) using a table (3), in accordance with the desired adaptation. Said method is characterised in that several tables (3, 4, 5, 6, 3', 4', 5', 6', 3'', 4'', 5'', 6'') are stored in the form of a two-dimensional field and to adapt the image reproduction characteristic, a table is selected in accordance with two parameters.
