PURPOSE: A data filtering circuit and a method are provided to perform conversions continuously and optimally, and to cut down expenses by operating the data filtering circuit in differential mode. CONSTITUTION: A filtering circuit continuously performs the steps of correcting discrete transformation (DCT2), odd transforming data for a set of original data (X0-X7), and reverse discrete transformation (IDCT2). The filtering circuit uses the fact that paths corresponding to even and odd transformed data are completely separated except the first processing stage (ST1) of the discrete transformation and the final stage (ST8) of the reverse discrete transformation. As a result, a first half of the data generated from the first stage is connected to the final processing stage. Thus, the filtering circuit is simply realized, and is inexpensively manufactured in the lower power consumption. The filtering circuit is functioned in a different mode for optimum realizing. |
