It is intended to provide disease markers reflecting bone metabolic diseases in association with accelerated differentiation/activation of osteoclasts a method of detecting bone metabolic diseases using these disease markers and a method of screening a drug useful in ameliorating the diseases. As the disease marker for bone metabolic diseases in association with accelerated differentiation/activation of osteoclasts, use is made of a polynucleotide having at least 15 consecutive bases in the base sequence of NF-ATc isoform a gene or chloride intracellular channel 4 gene and/or a polynucleotide complementary thereto.
