A back pressure valve, comprises: a first housing (330) including a first chamber (305) formed therein having an inlet (310) and an outlet for a first fluid; a second housing (200) including a second chamber (260) formed; a flexible diaphragm having an outer peripheral edge portion abutting the seco nd housing; and closing off the second chamber; a back pressure member (150) moveably disposed in the first chamber (305) of the first housing (330), wherein the first chamber (305) is defined by the first housing (330) and th e back pressure member (150); wherein the flexible diaphragm (180) is fixed on to and moveable together with the back pressure member (150), whereby pressure in the second chamber (260) determines fluid pressure required to maintain the back pressure member (150) in a steady position.
