METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ILLUMINATING A SPATIAL LIGHT MODULATOR

Methods are disclosed for combining the radiation from two or more multip le emitter laser diode arrays in such a way that brightness is conserved. The methods have particular application in constructing a radiation line source of high power and good beam quality suitable for illuminating a spatial light modulator. Apparatus for illuminating spatial light modulators is also disclosed.
