PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation having high moisturizing action and a synergistically improving effect on the aging symptoms of the skin such as crease and also on the roughened skin. SOLUTION: An extract of the flower and root Alpinia speciosa is used as a component of the skin care preparation. As an alternative, one or more components selected from the above extract and extracts of various parts such as the leaf and stalk of Alpinia speciosa are used as a component of the skin care preparation in combination with a conventional cell activation agent such as extracts of various plants, ceramide, yeast extract, nucleic acid and hydroxyfatty acid.
