Production of hot pressed bodies made from iron-containing or other abrasively acting material, especially iron sponge, involves pressing the material into mold recesses by rolling. The hot pressed bodies have a drop-like cross-section, whose flat region runs in the rolling direction. An Independent claim is also included for a device for producing the hot pressed bodies, comprising rollers (7, 8) with molding basins (7a, 8a) having a protrusion (11) in a central region running across the rolling direction (A) and/or having a drop-like cross-section running with its flat region in the rolling direction. Preferred Features: A recess is pressed in the hot pressed body in a central region running across the rolling direction. The hot pressed body has identical recesses on its upper and lower sides.
