The device has a combustion air line (24) to a burner (12), an exhaust gas line (26) from the burner, a burner controller (18) and a combustion air mass flow sensor (20) on the combustion air line and operationally coupled to the controller. An exhaust gas mass flow sensor (22) operationally coupled to the controller detects a second gas mass flow and the controller regulates the burner operation depending on the two detected gas mass flows. Independent claims are also included for the following: a vehicle with a heater and a method of regulating a heater for mobile applications.
