The invention relates to a method and a supply line structure (PL) for transmitting data between the electrical components (2, 3, 4) in a motor vehicle. The data are transmitted via a data bus (CAN). At least some of the components (2, 3, 4) are supplied with energy via a supply line structure (PL). In order to allow for a highly reliable transmission of data between the components of the motor vehicle, the data are transmitted not only via the data bus (CAN) but also via the supply line structure (PL), at least when the data bus (CAN) fails.
