DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING MICROWAVE LEAKAGE

PURPOSE: A device and a method for preventing microwave leakage are provided to prevent a fire which may be caused by leakage of microwaves and ensure user's safety by preventing microwave leakage from a broken resonator of a lighting device. CONSTITUTION: A device for preventing microwave leakage comprises a sensor(200), a control section and an electromagnetic wave blocking glass(212). When power is applied from a high voltage generator(208), a magnetron(207) oscillates and generates microwaves. The microwaves are emitted into a resonator(202) through a waveguide(205) so that a material sealed within an electrodeless bulb(204) can emit light having a unique emission spectrum. The light is reflected by a reflector(201) and a mirror(203) to lighten the space. The electrodeless bulb(204) generates high-temperature heat. The mesh resonator(202) is oxidized or eroded due to degradation by the heat, and finally broken. The microwaves generated from the magnetron(207) leak from the broken part of the resonator. The sensor(200) detects microwave leakage in real time and outputs a signal to the control section which stops operation of the magnetron(207) according to the signal to prevent the microwave leakage.
