1,245,656. Shaft couplings. FRIEDMANN & MAIER. 23 Dec., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 61060/68. Heading F2U. An adjustable shaft coupling (e.g. driving a fuel injection pump actuating cam-shaft) comprises an axially movable (e.g. due to centrifugal motion of weights 6 against springs 14, 15) internally splined sleeve 8 in mesh with two gears 2, 3 of which one at least has helical teeth 9, one or both gears 2, 3 having ratchettype teeth 13 transmitting torque via the teeth backs 12. This tooth form is to produce, when torque is transmitted, a high frictional resistance to axial loads tending to displace the sleeve 8, which is adjustable at intervals of negligible torque occurring each revolution. |
