HEAT GELLING ARTIFICIAL LACRIMA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial lacrima which increases the amount of tear on the surface of an eye and protects a tear layer. SOLUTION: This heat-gelling artificial lacrima contains (a) methylcellulose and (b) at least one kind selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol, citric acid and pharmaceutically permissible salts of the citric acid. The heat-gelling artificial lacrima further contains chondroitin sulfuric acid or a pharmaceutically permissible salt thereof, besides the above components. When the heat gelling artificial lacrima is used on an eye, it is gelled at the body temperature to increase the amount of tear, and protects the tear layer.
