PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce size of equipment by eliminating high voltage terminal of electric appliance for taking out. SOLUTION: A voltage measurement method is provided for a conductor insulated with a solid insulator arranged with the solid insulator in an electric field generating around. A light path for transmitting detected light with a wave length capable of transmitting the solid insulator is determined (step S1), a test voltage of known value is impressed to the conductor and the detected light is transmitted in the light path to obtain, in advance, the relation between the voltage impressed to the conductor and the polarization state of the transmitting light (step S2), the detected light is transmitted (step S3), and the voltage of the conductor is obtained from the polarization state of the transmitting light by utilizing the above relation (step S4).
