PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collecting material for suppressing desorption or temperature-variation-based desorption of radioactive iodine and particularly methyl iodide contained in exhaust gas discharged from nuclear facilities or the like. SOLUTION: Activated carbon having an average pore diameter of 20Åor less is impregnated with amine, and the resultant material suppresses desorption and temperature-variation-based desorption of organic iodine compound by the synergistic action of chemical adsorption and physical adsorption. The desorption rate of methyl iodide is 50% or less, and the heat-desorption rate of methyl iodide is 50% or less.
