PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a colored aluminum pigment which enables colorful tone design, has a high brightness, and can form a coating film having good appearance. SOLUTION: The colored aluminum pigment comprises aluminum flakes and a coloring pigment adhered to the surfaces of the aluminum flakes and has an average thickness of 0.1-0.4μm and an average size of 5-20μm. Preferably, the average thickness, average size, and aspect ratio (average size/average thickness) of the aluminum flakes are 0.01-0.1μm, 5-20μm, and 50-1,000, respectively. Preferably, the aluminum flakes are produced by vapor deposition.
