PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper capable of being held apart from a window face during stop. SOLUTION: A steel auxiliary arm 3 extending along a lower face of a wiper arm 2 is attached to an arm head 1 between the auxiliary arm and the window face at a prescribed clearance. A spring 7 biasing in the direction separating the wiper arm 2 from the auxiliary arm 3 is provided. An electromagnet 5 is attached to the wiper arm 2 to lower the wiper arm 2 by attractive force acting between the magnetized electromagnet 5 and the auxiliary arm 3 by exciting the electromagnet 5 during wiper operation to press, the wiper blade mounted on the edge on the window face. During wiper stop, the electromagnet 5 is demagnetized to push up the wiper arm 2 by force of the spring 7 to hold the wiper blade in the state of being kept apart from the window face.
