Apparatus for wetting granular or powdery scattering material comprises one or more belts for transporting the material; one or more silos (3) for storing the material to be moistened having one ore more openings (5); and a housing (4) arranged below the openings of the silos or below the downstream end of the belts. The housing has slanted surfaces and a distance of 1.5 - 45 cm is formed between the lower edges of each slanted surface and each opposite-lying wall of the housing. Ten or more spraying devices are arranged on each slanted surface or at least one part of them for spraying a liquid. Preferred Features: The flow speed of the scattering material is 0.1 -10.0 m per second along the slanted surfaces.
