An account is given of equipment that is simple in construction and reasonable to buy, operate and control, which equipment is used for monitoring potential leakage points in the areas of jointing flanges (14, 14a) that form part of piping systems, in particular process plants. The equipment comprises an elongated, straight instrument body (44) that may be arranged in association with a packing body (10) positioned in the area of two facing, jointing flanges (14, 14a) for bolting together, which packing body, in the operative position comprises two radially inside each other positioned gasket parts (18, 19), which on the other hand are kept separate by an intermediate 360 DEG round gap (20). The subject of the invention is thereby distinguished by a packing portion (22) positioned radially outside of the gasket parts (18, 19) having an internal passage (24) that is designed for receiving the radially inner portion (34a) of said leakage monitoring and indicating means (34), and which by a radially inner portion has an angled inlet branch passage portion with at least one open end. This open end may have an inverted T-shaped mouth and defines two opposite fluid inlets (24'') that join respective ring grooves formed in the gasket parts (18, 19), so as to establish fluid communication between the tubular leakage, monitoring and indicating means (34) and at least one peripheral groove (30) formed in the face of the opposite gasket part.
