PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which generation of fog of developer is suppressed by preventing the image force of developer from acting on an independent floating electrode by forming a good electrostatic latent image more stably, and an image having good image quality can be formed. SOLUTION: When a writing electrode 3a2 touches the rear surface of an image carrier 2 to perform back face writing of an image, an electrostatic latent image is formed on an independent floating electrode 2c1 on the surface of the image carrier 2 by means of a counter electrode 3b. The electrostatic latent image on the image carrier 2 is subjected to noncontact development (jumping phenomenon) with developer 17 fed from a developing roller 6 not touching the image carrier 2. In this regard, the developing roller 6 is applied with a developing bias where an AC voltage is superposed on a DC voltage. Since the developer does not press contact with the image carrier, no image force act on an independent electrode 2c1 and fog of developer is suppressed. Furthermore, developer adhering to the non-image part of the image carrier 2 is stripped and removed by the developing bias where an AC voltage is superposed on a DC voltage. |
