PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic flushing apparatus which simplifies workability eases conditions of execution of work by dispensing with the removal of a toilet seat lid when used for a Western-style toilet bowl, and is made comfortable by eliminating a sense of discomfort for a user when used for a Japanese-style toilet bowl. SOLUTION: This automatic flushing apparatus, which is broadly divided into a function part and a valve part, is characterized as follows: the function part is composed at least of a manual operation means for opening a valve manually, a human-body sensing means, and a control circuit which transmits a driving signal from the human-body sensing means to the valve; the valve part is composed at least of the valve and a valve driving part for opening/ closing the valve; and the function part and the valve part are housed in the same casing and arranged on the lateral side of the toilet bowl.
