PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient, industrially profitable method for producing aβ,γ-unsaturated carbonyl compound. SOLUTION: The method for producing aβ,γ-unsaturated carbonyl compound represented by formula (II) (wherein, R<1> , R<2> , R<3> , R<4> and R<5> are defined below) comprises isomerization of anβ,γ-unsaturated carbonyl compound represented by formula (I) (wherein, R<1> and R<2> are each independently H, an alkyl, alkenyl or aryl that may have substituents, R<3> is H or methyl that may have substituents, R<4> and R<5> are each independently H, a halogen, an alkyl, alkenyl or aryl that may have substituents. R<1> and R<4> , R<1> and R<5> , R<4> and R<5> may bound together at each other's C to form a ring) in the presence of a boron compound.
